Carl H. Brus II, 85, of LeClaire, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at UnityPoint Trinity, Bettendorf. Cremation will be accorded and a celebration of his life will be held from 11am – 1pm on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove, IA. Inurnment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Long Grove.

Carl Hubert Brus II was born December 15, 1940, in DeWitt, to Carl Hubert and Irene Genevieve (Organ) Brus. While serving in the Army he was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, and it was there that he met his future wife, Martha Ann “Marti” McIntosh, who was working at the Pentagon. They were united in marriage on April 27, 1968 in Washington DC.
Prior to his retirement, Carl had worked as a truck driver for the Iowa DOT driving snowplows and mowers.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, mowing his yard, tinkering with cars, farming, and occasional trips to the casino. He earned his pilot’s license at the age of 17 and worked his way up to flying multi-engine aircraft.
Survivors include his wife Marti; son Carl (Leslie) Brus IV of Camanche, IA; three grandchildren; sister Barb Spickermann of Tipton, IA; brothers Ron (Susan) Brus of North Liberty, IA, Wayne Brus; and nephews David, Kevin, and Earl Spickermann.
He was preceded in death by his sons Carl Brus III and John Phillip Brus, and parents.
