Bruce Hansen

Bruce James Hansen, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18th, 2026. Cremation has been accorded and celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of services. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, at a later date.

Bruce was born on Summer Solstice, June 21st, 1950, in Davenport, Iowa, to Harold Wayne "Howie" and Mary Ellen (White) Hansen.

Bruce graduated from Davenport West High School, Class of 1968, and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Eastern Iowa Community College in 1970.

Bruce was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served our great nation while stationed at the 130th Station Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany in 1970-1973.

In 2011, he retired from the position of Safety and Environmental Director, Eastern Iowa Light and Power Rural Electric Cooperative in Wilton, Iowa, after 30+ years.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Deborah Anne (Slaby), Davenport; daughters Jessica Hansen, of Wapello, Iowa, and Lauren Hansen, Davenport; grandchildren, Clemens, Ace, and Elliot Swaink, of Wapello, and Olivia Hansen, East Moline; brothers, Terry (Pam) Hansen, Davenport, and Marc (Danielle) Hansen, McLeansboro, Illinois, and sister-in-law, Nancy (Edwards) Hansen, Deltona, Florida.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Craig.
