Brian Keith Erickson passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on July 24, 2026, at the age of 66. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held to honor Brian at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Long Grove on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 3 pm, with family and friends meeting at the cemetery.
Born on March 14, 1960, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Inez Thomas, Brian was adopted by Keith and Patricia (Speiss) Erickson. He was known for his carefree personality and his ability to laugh in any situation. Brian proudly served his country as an Army Ranger. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a master carpenter, traveling the country to work hard and play hard. He also worked as a bouncer and held other exciting jobs, including a stint as a repo man.
Beyond his work, Brian loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for boxing and car racing. Known for his unique charm, attitude, and outspoken opinions, Brian was never in a hurry, earning him friends far and wide.
He is survived by his siblings, Colleen (Tom) Maxwell and Todd (Kathy) Erickson, as well as a special uncle and aunt, Mark and Barb Erickson.
Brian was preceded in death by his significant other, Candy K. Wales, whose companionship enriched his life for 14 years; his parents, Keith and Pat, whom he deeply loved; and his uncle, Tom Erickson.
As you remember Brian, don’t forget to laugh, “cause, it ain’t nothing personal…”
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
