Brenda Fowler-Hendricksen passed away peacefully at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice on October 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. She was born on June 3, 1957, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 7, 2025 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Her family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Brenda dedicated her life to service. Whether it was visiting nursing homes, volunteering as a charter member of her church, supporting charitable organizations, or offering help to anyone in need, she lived each day with compassion and purpose. She will be remembered as a truly selfless individual who found great joy in giving to others. Brenda also had a lifelong love of antiques and delighted in discovering vintage treasures.
In her early career, Brenda worked as a teacher’s aide in special education, then in hospitality and later as a caregiver for older adults. However, her most cherished roles were those of mother and grandmother. She loved her children deeply, fiercely, and unconditionally.
Brenda is survived by her four children, Amanda Fifer, Jeremy (Sarah) Fifer, Josh Fifer, and Andrea (A.J.) Durand; her stepson, Brent Fowler; and her three grandchildren, Ava, Aiden, and Amara. She is also survived by her parents, Jack and Marjorie Sampica; her beloved siblings; nieces; nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Brenda leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. In honor of her memory, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to one of the nonprofit organizations to which she devoted so much of her time and heart.
Living Hope Church has been an incredible source of support to Brenda and her family for many years. Please choose "other" in the dropdown and the Church will know that this is meant for her. They plan to use the funds to do something special in her memory. Make a Donation
