Bobbi Sunderbruch

Bobbi Sunderbruch, age 70, a resident of Bettendorf, passed away on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 between 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is handling the arrangements.

Bobbi was born March 8, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Mary (Murray) Murphy. The family moved to Highland, Indiana, where Bobbi grew up with her siblings. In 1977, Bobbi graduated from Indiana University with her Bachelor and Master degrees in Speech-Language Pathology. She moved to Davenport, Iowa for a career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Soon after moving to Davenport, she met and married Joe Sunderbruch. They raised their two sons, Michael and Jeffrey, in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Bobbi worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency for 35years, working in many different area schools.

Bobbi’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, going for walks, listening to music and traveling.

In addition to her husband Joe, Bobbi is survived by her son Dr. Michael Sunderbruch, Davenport, her son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Shayla Sunderbruch, Bettendorf, her grandson, Jonah Sunderbruch, as well as her siblings Lin Hall (Terry, deceased), Harry Murphy, Gerry Kottka, Denise Murphy and in-laws Gala Sunderbruch (Arthur “Chip”, deceased), Bob and Kathy Sunderbruch, Mary Ann and John Kennedy, Jane and Dave Wilson and Joan Wysoske, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Arthur “Chip” Sunderbruch and Terry Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the River Bend Food Bank.
