Bob Marcussen

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Robert E. Marcussen, 92, of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will be at a later date in Oakdale Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Bob died Friday, December 30, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House surrounded by family.

Robert Edwin Marcussen was born on July 17, 1930 in Davenport, a son of Edwin and Marguerite (Bennett) Marcussen.  He served our country in the Army from May of 1951 until May of 1953.  Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Stoker on May 22, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on December 30, 2005.

Bob worked for Red Jacket Manufacturing for 18 years and the Rock Island Arenal as the head of weapons and ammunition retiring in 1990.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and the Moose Lodge.

Bob was an avid golfer and bowler, joining the 700 club at the former Hob Nob in West Davenport.  He also enjoyed jazz music and was a great fan of the Hawkeyes, White Sox, and Packers.  Above all else, Bob cherished his family, and the times they were together.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Sheree (Bill) Bennett, Bobbi Studeny, Patti (Bret) Miller, David (Brenda Gilbraith) Marcussen, and Lori Berg, all of Davenport; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and his canine pal, Hope.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he was preceded in death by his parents.  May they rest in peace.
