Bill Wiese

William B. “Bill” Wiese, Jr., 78, of Robins, Iowa, formerly of LeClaire, Iowa died peacefully, Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha, Iowa.

A gathering to celebrate Bill’s life will be held from 10 until 12 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 N. Main Street, Davenport followed by graveside services at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight or to the Hiawatha Care Center.

Bill was born on January 5, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa, a son of Alice Mae (Anderson) and William B. Wiese, Sr. He graduated from North Scott High School in 1967 and joined the Air Force shortly after. He proudly served our country, primarily stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas where he was a mechanic. Bill was thrilled to travel to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Flight in 2024.

Bill was united in marriage to Claire Lorraine Anderson on December 20, 1970, in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2022, following over 51 years of marriage.

Bill worked as an electrician at Sears Manufacturing for over 40 years before his retirement. After retirement, Bill and Claire moved to Robins, Iowa, to be closer to their grandchildren.

Bill enjoyed staying busy and could often be found working on cars, including restoring his sons’ Ford Mustangs. He had a love for fishing and camping and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors, whether it meant tackling an electrical project or simply helping with whatever was needed. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports and activities, taking great pride in being there to cheer them on.

Bill is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Stefanie Wiese, Marion, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Wendy Wiese, Geneseo, Illinois; grandchildren: Ryan, Brandon, Aaron, Syler, and Sarah; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Kenny) Keckler, Davenport; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Myra (Dan) Rounsavell, Neil (Mary Carmen) Anderson, Nancy (Peter) Kubicki, and Paul Anderson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by a son, MSgt. Craig Wiese, USAF, his parents, and siblings: Russell Wiese, Janet (Dennis) Dinter, and Shirley (Matt) Costello. May they rest in peace.

The Wiese family would like to thank the staff at the Hiawatha Care Center for all of the loving and compassionate care shown to Bill.
