Betty Lou Kinken

Betty Lou Kinken, 86, of Davenport, died Monday, June 10, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Davenport Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Betty Lou Sountris was born on May 4, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa, a daughter of Steve and Fern (Lodwig) Sountris.  She was united in marriage to Earl S. Kinken on April 30, 1968.  He preceded her in death on April 22, 2012.

Betty loved the Golden Girls, country music, and cats.  She cherished her family, and her great-granddaughters held a special place in her heart. 

Survivors include her children and their spouses: Sam Kinken and Emmeline Summerton and Mary and Jeff Stigers; granddaughter, Kaylene (Quenton); great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Isabella, and Catherine Lou; brothers: John and James Sountris, and an “adopted” daughter, Alma Eder.
