Anthony J. “Tony” Arango, 56, of Hollywood, Florida, died Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, Florida.
Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. The Mass will be livestreamed by clicking the following link: ST PAUL FACEBOOK. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass in the gathering space at St. Paul’s. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Life Raft Group, Environment Florida, or ServeHAITI.
Anthony Joseph Arango was born on December 29, 1968, in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Fernando and Marcia (Mann) Arango. He graduated from Cleveland State University where he played on the baseball team and later went on to earn his Masters from Ohio University in Sports Management and served as graduate assistant coach on the baseball team.
In 1992, Tony started a career with Major League Baseball organizations beginning with the Kansas City Royals in 1992 as the Assistant to the Director of Scouting, following that he was a scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks, and then the Montreal Expos, who later became the Washington Nationals. Following the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, he worked as a special envoy and advisor to the Director General and later the Prime Minister for business relations and sports management. In 2015, he started a cryotherapy business and then in 2021 started Nuproach, a health and wellness firm. Tony’s latest endeavor was a an area scout for New Balance Future Stars Series.
Tony had a passion for mentoring young people, whether it was teaching them proper baseball mechanics or sharing his knowledge of a book he just read, you could tell he truly cared. He created many lasting and meaningful friendships during his lifetime. Tony enjoyed reading, on a wide variety of topics, always trying to absorb new information or something he could pass forward.
Those left to honor his memory are his mother, Marcia, Hollywood, Florida; uncles and aunts including his Godfather, Luis “Louie” Arango, Moline, and Godmother, Debby Siebke, Rock Island, Laurentino Arango, Stamford, Connecticut, Lizette (Hank) Beltram, Lebanon, Connecticut, Steven (Pat) Mann, Burlington, Iowa, Jean Mann, West Point, Iowa, Deacon Thomas (Linda) Mann, Monmouth, Illinois, Mary (Jim) Howard, Bumpass, Virginia, and Dottie (Tony) Vonderhaar, Houghton, Iowa as well as many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, and an uncle, Robert Mann. May they rest in peace.
