Anne Marie Witowski was born on July 28, 1941, in Winona, MN, to Edward and Eleanor (Santini) Fehring, and was raised in Independence, KS, a graduate of Independence High School and Independence Junior College.
Anne dedicated many years as a secretary to St. Lawrence Catholic School in Carroll, IA, while her daughters attended Kuemper Catholic Schools K-12, staying actively involved in the Catholic Church as a Lector and Ladies’ Guild member and the local Girl Scout troops. She enjoyed many years of social connection and community service through her membership in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and cherished many long-lasting friendships to the end.
In May 2002, at the age of 60, Anne proudly achieved one of her lifelong goals earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Resources from Drake University supported by funding from the Iowa Workforce Development, followed by several years serving Iowans as a navigator helping Iowans with disabilities find successful employment across the workforce.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Anne became a housemother for Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, an easy transition for the long-time Cyclone fan. She later was a housemother for Chi Omega Sorority at University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, to the excitement of the only two Hawkeye fans in our Cyclone family, before moving closer to family in the Quad Cities area in 2016.
Retiring in 2017, Anne remained involved with Lions Club, PEO, and as a Resident Ambassador at StoryPoint Bettendorf (Quartet).
Anne was an avid sports fan her entire life, checking in with family on college football Saturdays, during March Madness and the Masters, to name a few, never missing the chance to say “What would I do without sports!” when we called.
Anne enjoyed playing golf and travelling. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her dedication to bringing people together, whether entertaining and planning social events or offering care and comfort to others in times of need, and the love she had for her family, especially her grandsons.
Survivors include her daughters Susan (Tim) Hansen of Nevada, IA, Jill Witowski of Glenview, IL, and Amy (Chad) Rotert of Bettendorf, IA. She was the proud grandmother to Zach (fiancée Abby) Hansen, Tyler Hansen, Treyton “Tre” De Lio, and Jake Rotert. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret (Paul) Diaz of Valparaiso, IN, and Mary (Jim) Scott of Ponca City, OK. Fond mother-in-law of Mike De Lio.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
