Ann Eischeid

Ann (Spinharney) Eischeid, 92, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1933, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Lester and Mildred Spinharney, Ann lived a full life. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Iowa where she played drums for the University’s Scottish Highlanders. On August 20, 1955, she married the love of her life, Stuart C. Eischeid. Together, they made their home in Bettendorf, Iowa, where Stu worked as an executive with AAA Iowa. They adopted and raised three children: Chuck, Katy and Sarah. Mom and Dad made sure they knew, but also made sure they knew they were Eischeids and not someone else's.

Ann faced tragedy when Stu passed away unexpectedly in 1979 during a business trip. It was a loss that rocked the family. She carried on the best she knew how for the remainder of her life. For more than 37 years, Ann volunteered with the Catholic Services Board, giving generously of her time and heart. She especially looked forward to hosting family holiday gatherings.

She was an avid golfer and a lifelong dog lover, sharing her home and heart over the years with her beloved pets: Molly, Emma, Charley, Sadie, Lucy and Gertrude.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stuart, and her son Charles. She is survived by her daughters, Katy Eischeid (Davenport, IA) and Sarah Eischeid Hills (Loveland, CO); sons-in-law Dan Breitbach and George Hills; and grandchildren Tommy Breitbach (Jamie), Kaitlin Carr (Ben), Hannah Breitbach, and Isabel Hills. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Rylynn, Jaymes Daniel (JD) and Layne Breitbach, and Charlotte, John, Jack, and Joseph Carr.

A funeral service will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Saturday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society, reflecting Ann’s deep love for her dogs.
