Anita Jo Askam

Anita Jo Askam, age 69, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Kahl Home, Davenport. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Coram Deo Bible Church, 3800 E. 53^rd Street, Davenport, with the visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McKinley Elementary School, Davenport.

Anita was born on August 13, 1953 in Danville, IL, to William and Zilah (Lucas) Uvick. She graduated from Danville High School and then Eastern Illinois State with a BA in education. Anita was united in marriage to Gary Askam on June 13, 1987 in Springfield, IL. Anita taught for over 2o years at McKinley School as a paraeducator.

She was a member of Coram Deo Bible Church. She enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin to visit family as well as spending time in Door County.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Aaron (Kelsey) Askam; sisters, Martha Foster and Margaret (Robert) Bouchard; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Marlin.
