Funeral services to celebrate the life of William C. Davidson, 75, a longtime resident of Bettendorf will be 11:00 am Monday, September 12, 2016 in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. The family will greet friends Monday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Following Bill’s instructions the rite of cremation will be accorded following the service. Private family inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Bill died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Kahl Home in Davenport. He passed away following declining health.
William Cameron Davidson was born June 24, 1941 in Wilmette, Illinois, the son of Alan C. and Elizabeth (Anthony) Davidson. Bill graduated in 1965 and received his BA from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. He then received his Juris Doctorate from University of Illinois, Champaign, Illinois in 1968.
Bill was united in marriage to Susan Vonachen on December 29, 1963, in Peoria, Illinois.
Bill retired in 2007 after a nearly forty-year career with the law firm of Lane and Waterman.
He was constantly challenging himself mentally as well as physically. Bill enjoyed running, reading, traveling the world, and especially enjoyed his beloved canine companions. He studied for and received his private pilot’s license as well as his captain’s license for nautical navigation.
He served on numerous professional and charitable boards, including The Handicapped Development Center. After retirement he volunteered at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. He felt very honored to help at Clarissa Cook.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to be made in Bill’s name to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Those left to honor Bill’s memory include his wife, Susan Vonachen Davidson, sons, Todd C. (Grace) Davidson, Incline Village, Nevada, Cameron A. (Mary) Davidson, Bettendorf, four beloved grandchildren, Kenzie, Melanie, Abigail, and Bennett; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sally (Dennis) Castellari, Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Courtney “Cory” Davidson.
